Walking with Someone

Print 🖨

The thermometer reading
Was right above eight
When our girl left the house
At a speeded-up gait
So’s to join with a friend
Who was just going by,
When I warned of the cold,
I received a reply
Rather wise for a child
Not eleven years old,
“When you’re walking with someone,
It isn’t so cold!”

She, of course, never thought
That philosophy dwelt
In the answer that simply
Revealed how she felt;
But I’m certain you know
It’s eternally so.
When the winds of defeat
And discouragement blow,
There’s great warmth in just having
A hand you can hold.
“When you’re walking with someone,
It isn’t so cold!”
